During these social-distancing times where we can’t travel back home, comfort food from our native countries is even more important to our well-being. For Maxime, crêpes are one of those quintessential French staples that he makes regularly on weekends to feel at home.
Crêpes are strongly tied to the French region of Bretagne from the northwest part of the country, along the Atlantic ocean, where his paternal grandma still lives and where he spent most of his summer vacations during his childhood. Before leaving, they would always grab three dozens crêpes at the local bakery to bring home and keep the vacation spirit going. Of course, Maxime’s family would regularly enjoy homemade crêpes at home throughout the year until the next summer.
Made from only four ingredients (flour, milk, egg, butter), crêpes are very easy to cook with a bit of practice and can be second nature for any Sunday cook!
